Digital Mom. Analog Daughter.

About me

Hi there!  I’m Melissa, and I’m a mom with a degree in electrical engineering, and 12 years experience in the technical world.  I’m also an entrepreneur, because let’s face it, it can get real old sitting in a Dilbert-style cubicle farm for years!

So I recently started my own business, and decided to write this blog.  In this blog I plan to share information on how to help develop your child’s interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) subjects, fun science facts and activities to share with your child, and of course lots of stories about my life as a mom and my sweet daughter, Brynn.  I will also share the occasional sneak peek or tidbit about the business, but that is not the main purpose of this blog.  However if you are interested in checking out our store, that’s awesome too!

A little bit more about me and my family:

I’m originally from Minneapolis, MN, but currently reside in Austin, TX.  My husband is from Amarillo, TX, and our daughter was born in November 2010 here in Austin.  My husband and I met…at work!  Ha!  Yeah, I know you’re not supposed to do that, but it just happened.  I honestly never thought I would meet anyone at work since I worked with all engineers, and I thought they were all the same (geeky, not good socially, etc).  And well…they kind of are, but I found an awesome one!  My daughter is a very confident little girl.  She isn’t afraid of anything or anyone, but is at the same time very cautious, and often gives a serious face when in a new situation or when busy playing with small objects (all of the above she gets from her daddy).  She can also be very sweet and silly, and she loves stuffed animals, books, and any kind of pasta.
